Trevor is a school governor with extensive and varied experience which includes chairing governing bodies, discipline and appeal panels, performance management, and undertaking strategic reviews of governance. He is highly skilled at conducting challenging conversations and in performance management and has brought about rapid development of governing bodies.

Trevor is currently Vice Chair of Governors at a Northamptonshire junior school having stepped down as Chair in September 2017 and a board member of a Multi-Academy Trust with both secondary and primary academies within it. He has served on the Boards of both maintained and academy schools and has advised schools of all types including special schools, pupil referral units, faith schools, University Technical Colleges and free schools.

He has joined schools in very challenging circumstances helping to take one from ‘special measures’ to a ‘good’ Ofsted rating within 16 months and then onto become a standalone academy, in another school he quickly identified the main issues affecting performance and development and managed the complete transformation of the governing board and senior management team within 9 months. He recently assisted in managing the development of a school to achieve its amalgamation into a new open style Multi Academy Trust.

He has sat as a Local Authority appointee and Chair of Governors on the governing body of a school than was in need of urgent development and has helped to create more productive working relationships between the board of governors and the Senior Management Team thereby allowing the school to improve at a faster pace.

Trevor has provided governance support, advice, training, external reviews of governance and safeguarding nationwide to all types of school including academies, maintained, federations, faith, free, special, and UTC’s.   

Trevor has in-depth experience of working with the local authority and has provided advice regarding governor training, governing body development and safeguarding. He has undertaken safeguarding reviews on behalf of the Northamptonshire County Council Safeguarding Designated Officer.

Trevor is a National Leader of Governance and consultant and trainer for the National Governors Association.  

He holds the following related qualifications;

Certificate in Education (Cert Ed) University of Greenwich

EDI Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocational Achievement (QCF)

PRINCE2 Project Management Registered Practitioner

BTEC Advanced Aware in Risk Management and Assessment

Child Safeguarding Level 3 Trainer Award

NSPCC Designated Safeguarding Lead Award

Trevor also holds a range of advanced training qualifications in conflict management and the use of physical intervention, he has been providing training in this field for over 8 years and provides advice, training and external reviews of the use of physical intervention in schools to local authorities, schools and to related parties. 

He is safeguarding lead advisor for the ‘4 All Games’ an initiative that aims to make sports fully inclusive for able and disabled children.
