Wren Spinney is a secondary special school for students aged 11-19. Our students have a variety of complex needs, and severe learning difficulties.
Using levels, students’ attainment would be measured in a range from the lowest P levels to National Curriculum level 1 or 2. We have a satellite base in Kettering town centre, (“The Shop”), providing vocational learning opportunities for our students and those from other schools. This can also be accessed by others, including adults, as an outreach provision.
On 1 September 2017, the school converted to an academy to form Creating Tomorrow multi academy trust with Isebrook Academy in Kettering – this should benefit current and future students in many ways. Benefits to the school include access to new services, more accurate pupil placement, career paths for staff members and the ability to access 18-25 provision and employability options for Wren students.
The ethos of our school revolves around personal relationships, and gaining the skills needed to operate successfully in later life. We aim for our students to:
- Be happy, safe and engaged in learning
- Learn about kindness, responsibility and respect for themselves and others
We want them to “be the best they can be”
