Challenging Conversations

This course is designed to provide delegates with the skills needed to conduct the difficult and sometimes challenging conversations that senior leaders and governors are called on to undertake.

The course uses case studies to highlight learning points and considers;

When to conduct and when not to conduct challenging conversations

  • Preparation for the challenging conversation
  • Being assertive not aggressive
  • Negotiation skills
  • Planning considerations
  • Knowing how to and when to close the conversation
  • Conversation/questioning techniques
  • Transactional Analysis
  • Dealing with negativity

This course will be led by Trevor Kendrick, National Leader of Governance, who specialises in general school governance, safeguarding, safer handling and leadership.
