This course is designed to further knowledge and understanding of how ‘Safer Recruitment’ fits in with wider context of keeping children safe. Giving the skills to identify key features that could help to prevent appointment of unsuitable people.
This course is designed to assist Headteachers, Senior Leaders, Chairs and Vice Chairs of Governors in dealing effectively with allegations against staff, and promoting safe working practices for school staff. Thereby reducing the risk of allegations of inappropriate conduct and harm to children.

The statutory guidance makes clear that schools and childcare providers are ex-pected to assess the risk of children being drawn into terrorism, including support for extremist ideas that are part of terrorist ideology. This means being able to demonstrate both a general understanding of the risks affecting children in the area and a specific understanding of how to identify individual children who may be at risk of radicalisation and what to do to support them. These procedures may be set out in existing safeguarding policies. General safeguarding principles apply to keep-ing children safe from the risk of radicalisation as set out in the relevant statutory guidance, “Working together to safeguard children” and “Keeping children safe in education”.
