Update your Safer Recruitment training and book early for this essential course delivered by Janet James on behalf of the Lucy Faithfull Foundation
This one-day course gives staff recruiters the information and understanding they need to recruit staff and volunteers safely and comply with relevant statutory guidance. It is suitable for head teachers, safeguarding staff, school governors and any other staff involved in staff selection.
- Do you have your Prevent Duty Risk Assessment in place?
- Are all your staff aware of the specific Prevent Risks in your setting?
The statutory guidance makes clear that schools and childcare providers are ex-pected to assess the risk of children being drawn into terrorism, including support for extremist ideas that are part of terrorist ideology. This means being able to demonstrate both a general understanding of the risks affecting children in the area and a specific understanding of how to identify individual children who may be at risk of radicalisation and what to do to support them. These procedures may be set out in existing safeguarding policies. General safeguarding principles apply to keep-ing children safe from the risk of radicalisation as set out in the relevant statutory guidance, “Working together to safeguard children” and “Keeping children safe in education”.
